I used to be so anxious about cold contacting authors about review copies.

As someone in Special Ed, there's a distressing amount of people who don't understand or have the patience to explain social concepts to autists, so they just... don't.

I wish he'd had a trusted person to catch the unhealthy hyperfixation and at least *try* to help.

Every plantation owner had to work their asses off to keep humans enslaved. It took constant, active thought to keep an entire population of people from the freedom they were trying to get to.

They MADE "the times," not the other way around.

Thing is, the original author of that article doesn't think reading is a waste of time.

While they believe people are reading performatively, they believe it's still a good thing, because at least they're reading in a society where it's on a downward trend.
