French resident, UK voter, EU partisan. I consider ‘woke’ to be a compliment and ‘antifascist’ as the default position for rational human beans. Wife, mother, grandmother, cook, usually covered in dog hair. #fbpe
Thank you all for such kind wishes. Mother and baby are doing well and hope to be home later today. He looks so sweet and was visited last night by his big sister.

Why has mamma taken my bed out of the car? She’s gonna abandon me! (she isn’t - but the back of the car is full of rubbish/recucling).

Good morning all. Village ceremony this morning. Particularly remembering husband’s Uncle, Billie Nevill who died on 1 July 1916. #LestWeForget

Good morning CJ & Orcs. Between sister, OH & dog I woke earlier than usual. Shopping & laundry today. Went to Remembrance at the Memorial yesterday. The weather was beautiful, the setting perfect, but OH and I increasingly find British insistence on remembrance as a religious thing rather difficult.

It came!

Soup for a stormy night. Walked Tilly before the weather closed in. The fire is lit. Watching some early episodes of Foyle’s War - a much underrated gem. At this rate it will be hot chocolate in a Christmas mug!

I need to know…has anyone dared tell him yet? #TheIdiotTrump

Did someone say tea?
October 1, 2025 at 10:20 AM
We’re hoping for a quick visit up to the Somme. OH has an uncle buried at Carnoy CWGC cemetery. We go up, stay a few days, have afternoon tea with uncle Billie. It has become a tradition. Looking at the diary it may be tricky to fit in. Fingers crossed for good weather.

Good morning all. Back from hols. Plumber coming today to (hopefully) fix the dripping hot water tank. At the moment we troop back out to the van for showers and boil a kettle for dishes. Hope all are well and happy. X

It turns out that Sunday morning in the van is like Sunday morning at home - a bit of history podcast, dog at my feet and contemplating the weather. After 10 days of reasonable weather, a night of vicious Creuse storms. Time to look at the map and head home. X

A warm, sunny day in the Touraine. I cooked steak and chips with a burgundy sauce for lunch. Husband shrugged and said it was alright. Next time I’m giving the steak to the dog who at least has the good manners to drool on my feet.

I’m loving Governor Newsom’s ‘trumpian’ posts. They brilliantly underline what a childish illiterate the actual PoS is. In case anyone missed the point, Fox News made it for them by calling the posts ‘childish’ and suggesting they were unworthy of a leader. WTAF?

So, we had lunch in the garden, accompanied by the cheese hound. I cleared the kitchen floor this morning and now the tiles have had their annual deep clean. That’s when I get it properly wet with proper cleaning stuff, as opposed to a quick mop round with my home made spray.

It did indeed. Mine switched mozzarella for the feta (feta is a bit more costly here and I prefer mozzarella anyway). I made it because I had an accidental ‘spare’ steak. Next time it won’t be an accident.

I meant to share this. One dog and her love of the beach. Have a great day everyone.

Being guarded by your hound because any attempt to go to the loo will be regarded as ‘abducted by aliens’.

Camping pup in Sunday breakfast mode. Have a great Sunday Skybies.

I want to say ‘lucky you’ but dull & damp is actually quite refreshing. Got things to do this week. CT on the van (MOT). Must sort blood tests and doctor appts. Just shared a biscuit with Tilly. Have a great week, Jock.

It’s a pan with a heated lid. Sometime called Czech cookers. Lakeland used to sell them but I’ve no idea where you get them in UK. Maybe Amazon? The big plus is they are very miserly on electricity. My oven hasn’t been used much since I got one at the end of lockdown.

I tried this but really struggled because the choices were so disgusting. It was a relief to see Sachertorte, although I wouldn’t because…sugar. The Mussels would be good. The result says more about my dislike of American food choices than about my class.
