It is a double standard of the lessons of the Holocaust.

It delegitimizes the claims is Israel’s desire for peace.

Americans need to realize, we are the outliers. We approve of an ethnic cleansing decades in the making by continuing to blindly support Israel with some false hope we’re doing so to right the wrongs of history. Wrong. There is no functional moderate or left wing opposition in Israel that disagrees with the government that the genocide must stop. The only opposition is that the war has gone on and the perception of the country is damaged. The citizenry nevertheless agree with the aims of ethnic cleansing.

It’s a concept discussed widely after the 2023 film Zone of Interest that follows along the life of Nazi Rudolf Höss’ family living alongside the Auschwitz concentration camp. It’s disconcerting watching a Nazi family so casually go about a very privileged life next to human extermination.

The whole conservative concern trolling about identity politics being weaponized was true all along but it ended up being vindictive people whose only identity is Jewish and Israel state supporting AND willing to use their identity as cover to subjugate Arabs and anyone who supports human rights.

Don’t imagine some kind of moderate New York voter who is so obsessed about preventing a government shutdown that you throw your own party under the bus to enable the right wing regime’s budget priorities. It’s time to abandon these weak Democrats that don’t know how to fight.

Don’t mistake bluster and bravado of the MAGA Admin as something that reflects values of real people - the ones who are the margins of victory in national elections - but understand it as them willing cultural change to existence. MAGA acts like normal people hate trans people bc they want them too.

So to dilute one’s positions and renege on party solidarity, like Schumer did with the cloture vote for Trump’s budget, it’s a revelation of failure to assume the other’s side’s political jockeying is rooted in reality. That to make sacrifices like that earns any support from the middle is false.

So when Dems like Newsom cave so quickly and admit they fail as leaders and fathers by having those around them be diehard fans of reactionaries like Charlie Kirk, they fundamentally misunderstand how the right works. The right isn’t anti-trans bc America is but bc it makes them look tough.

In 2010, gay marriage was only a hot button issue because to the greater American public, being queer was still treated by political elites as social taboo. Five years later it became law of the land and public opinion - the Overton Window - shifted from opposers to neutral to supportive.

The right wants to insist that the culture war’s focus on trans issues is absolutely paramount to voters; it isn’t. People largely don’t have formed opinions, just a lack of familiarity which makes it easy for right wing reactionaries to take advantage and sow fear.
