Great selection - I think I’ve really enjoyed 14 of these. Very impressed that you have The Luminaries in there, a book that is probably owned by half the population of New Zealand and has actually been read by 12 of them. FYI I’m not one of the 12 - dnf!

Agree Paula, this is not a book to rush, but one to linger over and take a page at a time. It repels a speedy review!

I’m curious - what is the book about a painter in New Zealand?

This made me seek out my @faberbooks.bsky.social copy of Arcadia. Always love that you get to see the original cast which for this play included Rufus Sewell, Felicity Kendall and Bill Nighy.

Apparently after Kathleen died Tissot abandoned the house and left behind all his paintings, paints and materials. He was so devastated. The house is just around the corner from the Beetles Abbey Road crossing. The blue plaque on the wall is for Lawrence Alma-Tadema, who lived there before Tissot.

Post a book you love from the 80s. No explanations, no reviews, just covers.

Very happy to see this, but it has made me reflect that it is more than twenty years since my last fat rascal.
