We learn in class about the generalized uncertainty principle. This can give us additional uncertainty relations, like the more controversial energy-time relation. But when one thinks of groups and rings more generally, isn’t this just scratching the surface?

In quantum mechanics, we usually run into the commutator of position (x) and momentum (p): [x, p] = xp − px. This canonical commutation relation gives us Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle.

Von Neumann entropy is a quantum generalization of Shannon entropy.
Here, ρ is a density matrix and cj are complex coefficients describing a (potentially mixed) quantum state. When ρ is a diagonal matrix, the Shannon entropy and Von Neumann entropy are the same!
