It is still referenced on the mtg wiki page. Although the link only leads to a 404-webpage... but it gives a nice starting point to look on the internet timemaschine.

There was an article which was quite long. Wotc took it done from their webpage. It is possible to find it via the internet timemaschine. But I'm actually not sure, what was in the Precon since I've never had the pleasure to open one myself :-/ ;-)

I enjoy meren far too much and her backgrpund story is my favorite piece of mtg lore. But I agree that it is important to play decks that are fun to play against.
