A new one #poetry

For those who sacrifice
for horizons unseen,
futures they'll never know,
trees they'll never see grow,
smiles on children's faces,
prosperity and peace,
we must remember them.
It's the least we can do.

Everyone makes them and
not all are grandiose.
Most of them are tiny
but they bloom in the hearts
of the ones we fight for,
stay awake all night for
and leave on a light for.

Sacrifice requires
action, no time for dreams,
no rubbing of the lamp
for granted wishes three.
There's dishes to be washed,
fears and doubts to be quashed,
and egos to be lost.

For those who sacrifice
for futures they'll not see
it's the least we can do
to just remember them.

that rushes me indoors
is the same cool breeze that
I welcome on warm days.

The bitterness I shun,
that I seek shelter from,
I welcome its sweetness
when times are sunnier.

When warm climes start to burn,
when the tide starts to turn,
that same bone-chilling wind,
will we all embrace it?

When the heat is on, and
we long for salvation,
shall we seek comfort in
the wind that chills our bones?

Soap Bubbles

I think life has failed me. No, I have failed in life. No, life, it failed me first. No, I failed, no you failed.

This petty argument I have had with myself since forever, it seems. Since forever indeed. Since whenever, since then.

Dreams are like soap bubbles. Soap bubbles of hope, dreams. Soap bubbles burst, they burst. They burst and we mourn them.

Our dreams, how we mourn them. Anger turns to sorrow. Sorrow, glum acceptance, glum acceptance follows.

I was looking at this position, after the match (I won on time) trying to figure out why it wasn't checkmate but the king can't move anywhere. I figured it out but can you spot it?
