Maybe a decade ago, if one of your EC2 instances got stuck in the Stopping state and you didn’t pay for support, then you posted the instance ID into a thread on the AWS forums and someone on the EC2 team would hopefully manually kill it (sometimes took a day or two).

The handwave of “do everything in reverse” is fun. We assigned a simplified WireGuard implementation as a practical for a university module, and “reverse” isn’t super clear for students. They have enjoyed it though, which says something about its implicit simplicity.
