The soon-to-be president backed a guy who paid a 17-year-old girl to have sex, violating House rules and federal and state laws "prohibiting prostitution, statutory rape, illicit drug use ... and who knowingly and willfully sought to impede and obstruct the investigation."

I'm biased because I had two little boys during the Sosa era who loved him and the Cubs, and later, they relished the World Series win in 2016. I'm not sure the attraction to the team would have been possible without Sosa.
I hope the fans welcome him back. It's been a long time coming.

Regarding the corked bat, MLB immediately collected 76 of his bats after the incident. They were X-rayed, and each one was cork-free. We went to games where Sosa regularly cranks balls out of the park during batting practice. Fans loved it. It was more a crowd-pleasing exhibition than actual BP.

And as much as steroids and other substances influenced the game during the Sosa/Bonds/McGuire era, every MLB owner and every sports TV executive knew what was happening and looked the other way—and then became all pure and angelic after the Congressional hearings.

Even more surprising since Republicans think anything even the least bit academic is an affront to their patriotism. And in another language? Blasphemy!

Apparently, all it takes to earn their unwavering devotion and complete subservience is $277 million and a few hundred tweets about being “woke.” Truly inspiring patriotism.
