@voguetheatersf.bsky.social has revived the 3D version of "Kiss Me Kate" and it's a stellar stereoscopic sensation. Tommy Rall's tour jetés over the audience, Ann Miller tossing her gloves into the crowd during her striptease, Bob Fosse and Carol Haney showing us what's to come.

Here is Berthe Morisot, sitting on the balcony in Édouard Manet's painting "Le Balcon" as seen at San Francisco's Legion of Honor. Though it was interesting to learn about their relationship and their mutual influence, the show lacked some crucial works.

"It's a brassiere! You know about those things, you're a big boy now. Revolutionary up-lift: No shoulder straps, no back straps, but it does everything a brassiere should do. Works on the principle of the cantilevered bridge." - Midge

I prefer the original, but I loved watching Hank Azaria in this.

Born in Canada and raised in California, Edna Mae Durbin was recommended to MGM studios at 14 and was put in a musical short with youngster Judy Garland. Universal signed her and her first movie - Three Smart Girls - saved the studio from bankruptcy.

Lest We Forget: December 2 is the birthday of Maria Anna Cecilia Sophia Kalogeropoulos, aka: Maria Callas; aka "La Divina". Raised in Queens by her Greek immigrant family, she moved to Athens at age 13 to study music, one of the greatest vocalists of the 20th century.

Here's Hitch with his leads in "Young and Innocent" (1937). After decades of search, I was finally able to watch this and see Alfred Hitchcock solidifying his style. I'm down to only a few of his films that still elude me. "Strauss' Great Waltz" anyone?

SF's Silent Film Festival and life kept me from seeing many contemporary movies in November. Finally watched Godard's delightful "Bande à Part", yet most of my favorites of the month were revisits. Top Five Below, with honorable mention for Colbert's "Cleopatra" and "The Sting".

Kaleidoscopic movie director William Berkeley Enos was nicknamed after the Broadway star, Amy Busby. Samuel Goldwyn brought him to Hollywood to direct Eddie Cantor musicals, but it was at Warner Bros where he found his footing. Had a cameo in 1970s The Phynx.
