Servant of felines (especially the foster kind). Quantum curious. Singer of songs, often off-key. Fulbright scholar and retired VP from IDC. Rider of tricycles. Endlessly fascinated by the mysteries of gravity, time, and magnetism. 🇮🇸
Oh, I love the idea of community.

I even love chaos, if chaos is expected.

And I love a good tricycle ride. My beautiful tricycle, Calliope, below.

It is HEAT - heat - that I do not love. 🥵🔥☀️

It sounds like my definition of hell on Earth. 105 degree heat index, fighting winds up to 29 MPH the whole way, and corn sweat.

WHY?

Like, seriously, if I were going to do it I'd want to do it in cooler weather and without the corn.

Proud to say every member of my family understood this post (sadly none have a vehicle other than, you know, the bike…)

I have been to SF at least a dozen times and never knew this existed. I am devastated to have missed out on so many dahlias!

I found the cinematography to be simply gorgeous. And the acting understated and poignant. I loved it.

One thing I am noticing is that the more bunny photos I favorite on Bluesky, the more bunny photos I see. This algorithm GETS me. 🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰

Cool! We just watched an exquisitely beautiful movie called "Touch", on @amazonprime.bsky.social , that has tie-ins to Japan, disasters - and lots and lots of food! I highly recommend it.

While agreeing with those who say evacuate, don't post, here's an article that might help those with a bit more time:

Anyway if you'd like a lightweight primer on all things quantum, you can check out the series of short intro videos I made with the Perimeter Institute, Quantum 101: perimeterinstitute.ca/quantum-101-... Just because quantum mechanics isn't spooky doesn't mean it's not really, really cool.

This is why, if I can’t give an actual physical gift, I give cash instead. It is unkind to force the person to spend it in only one place (I have at least 10 gift cards in a drawer that I can never use)

I actually think the greatest gift you could give them is insight into how to communicate technical concepts effectively. You are uniquely skilled at this and they could learn a lot from you. It’s a skill often overlooked by early career professionals.
