I just hope this doesn’t damage my and @sanders.senate.gov longstanding relationship.

It just wouldn’t feel like Thanksgiving without romanesco broccoli. Look at these sexy fractal beauties.

Israelis have “families.” Gazans are just “people.” Words matter.

Huge thanks to everyone who came to last night's launch of Precarious. I couldn't be more grateful for the turnout, the excellent audience questions, and the support I received from Calgary's community of readers and writers. #migrantworkers

Heading home after two days in Leamington recording an episode of CBC Ideas about migrant workers with the legendary @nahlahayed.bsky.social. This town smells like tomatoes.

Today I’ll be interviewed and photographed by The Herald about the new book. I’ve received wise counsel not to reproduce my look from the last time. According to my fashion advisor, @plynn.bsky.social, "That jacket is three sizes too small for you. You look like a body builder at an awards show."

A third of the way through this interview with Smith, and already we’re neck-deep in hypocrisy and misinformation.

One of my most enjoyable on-stage moments as a writer wasn’t talking about my own work, but interviewing Ken Dryden. An deeply kind and intelligent gentleman. I’ve heard he was also a decent goaltender.

Pretty rich to see Conservatives suddenly referencing this UN report. When the author visited the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration, Conservatives like Larry Maguire went at him like he was a piñata, taking particular exception to the slavery comparison.

Yesterday was Sugo Sunday at Casa Di Cintio. Forty pounds of romas ended up as eighteen jars of sauce. The Spremipomodoro was a dream, and “Do not pass peels alone,” feels like a metaphor for life.

Four years in the making, Precarious: The Lives of Migrant Workers is out next month and now available for preorder. #migrantlabour #migrantworkers

I’m a little skeptical, but I’ll be trying out the ”AEPI Spremipomodoro 2122” to do tomatoes this year. Stay tuned.

Gabor Mate on the decades-long prioritization of Jewish voices, and invalidation of Palestinian voices, in the Israel-Palestine conversation:

“Imagine if Auschwitz was only validated if the Germans acknowledged that it happened.”

I recently visited the amazing weekly “Chopo” punk/metal flea market in Mexico City. This young busker was singing Piano Man.

On assignment in Mexico City for @cangeo.bsky.social. Writing about Eat Like A Local, a marvelous women-run culinary tour company committed to sustainable tourism and the empowerment of local women and girls. Here are some shots from Friday's visit to San Rafael and Tacuba.
