Games in general are a good thing. Games bring people together. We can only hope, albeit with slight delusion, that whoever is designing, building, and maintaining a game or format is doing so because they truly LOVE that game/format and want the best possible players experience, not just $$$

That does come off as dooming, but I also see recent shifts and people learning and understanding the value of "togetherness" even when there's no immediate personal reward.

Theres also a deeper challenge of apathy & self-obsession. Ppl feel entitled to their joy even when they see others in pain. Sentiment that ppl shouldn't care about an issue unless it affects them. In the USA, our ability to value compassion/selflessness is wilting, if it ever was healthy.

"Professional" sporting events & competitive games are distraction from the pain & horror & stress of reality. Im somewhat okay with that. People find joy & hope in unique ways, for a lot of people watching "Professional" level sport/competitive games is that source of joy.
