“It’s not true that AI is going to automate everything. It requires the manual and precarious work of millions of people.” Milagros Miceli, Research Lead

I'm just discovering the thought provoking work at the www.dair-institute.org where they are imagining alternative futures to the big tech hype.

If you feel pessimistic about the unstoppable march of AI, you might like this 'doomer' publication. Mr. Yudkowsky’s new book, “If Anyone Builds It, Everyone Dies” is available from all good bookshops, and a few bad ones.

It's just an unwritten rule that you can only react once to any post in Teams. Now you can do up to 8. It's like Twitter upping the character limit from 140 to 280 chars. This is the beginning of the end. ;)

It’s 2024 and we’re still not embedding real world problems in examinations. This is long, long, long overdue.

My Dad's independently wealthy & absolutely does not need his Winter Fuel Allowance. Many of his mates are also retired& comfortably well off. Should the UK really keep paying money to people who don't need it? Is our problem with the morality of means-testing, or is it with the effectiveness of it?

I understand the rationale for banning mobiles in school, but for me it's like blaming water for drownings. Really the solution lies in education about the dangers and safeguards for those that aren't yet proficient. What about those who can ignore it, then use it to enhance learning when needed?

Bigger. Faster. Better. Thinner. Brighter. With the new Apple product launch this week, it’s not just the metals that are being recycled. Every product launch now looks the same.

With his obsession with the letter X, Musk should have combined it with its former brand and renamed his platform Twix. I certainly got a couple of fingers to give him.

Just amazed at the interactive quality of this Bland AI phone bot. It gives you a call back. I told it that my students struggle to wake up on time and it proposed a solution. Scary good! www.bland.ai?utm_campaign...
