Honored to author this blog.

In 2017, our advocacy resulted in Illinois becoming the first state in the U.S. to ban the use of elephants in circuses and traveling shows. This ban gives me hope that the Illinois General Assembly and the governor will help us ban this cruelty in the next ILGA.
It’s time to stop using monkeys in circuses and traveling shows
Even though Illinois was the first state in the U.S. to ban the use of elephants in circuses and traveling shows, it is still legal to force primates and other wild animals to perform.

Every Republican on the Sangamon Election Oversight Committee voted to defeat the sheriff recall resolution. It’s the first item to be recommended by the Massey Commission and the GOP has rejected it. Surprised? No.

Victory! Evanston becomes the 1st municipality in IL to pass a ban on cat declawing! Unanimous passage. Thank you Council member Reid for leading the charge.

Animals will suffer. Captive and companion animals, lab animals, and threatened and endangered species. I’ll do everything I can in IL to strengthen our laws protecting animals.
What Trump’s Return Could Mean for Animals
A second Trump administration could alter the lives of all sorts of animals, whether they live in laboratories, zoos, fields or forests.

The Massey Commission took a big step tonight in approving a 708 mental health board in Sangamon County. The matter now heads to us on the board to set the framework for discussion and hopeful passage in order to appear on the April 1 ballot via a referendum.

Another devastating report about the puppy mill to pet store pipeline. We passed the law in IL but trailer legislation to address license schemes is killed in the IL House. We must pass to stop a Trump era rollback of animal protection laws.
