The Hudsons Bay Company was formed in 1670--the oldest company in North America. Then it was bought by a US private equity firm. In a few short years it was bankrupt and its 80 stores picked over for bargains, then closed. It's a good metaphor for what would happen to Canada if Trump acquired it.

The Orioles have left Baltimore and have arrived in southern Ontario. Are they searching for better public health, education, and income support programs; or countrywide abortion and queer rights? Globally, the fight against carbon pollution has generally been an unmitigated failure. However, there is one bright light that shows something can actually be accomplished if there is enough political will—the European Union. They've actually reduced CO2 emissions below 1965 levels.
