Liquid biopsies are transforming cancer care, but can't yet accurately measure gene expression. Yahan Zhang is creating a machine learning tool that can predict gene expression activity from blood mRNA levels.

🩺 Clinical data from 309 patients was also added to the Gold Cohort, bringing our total number of complete cases* to 7,142!

*A case is considered complete when full genomic profiling and clinical data are deposited into the MOHCCN.

🧬A record-smashing 1,380 full genomic profiles were added to the Gold Cohort bringing us one giant step closer to creating Canada's largest and most complete cancer resource.

That brings our total number of Full Genomes Profiled to 12,942!

We are closing in on our original goal of collecting 15,000 cases of paired clinical and genomic data from a diverse pool of Canadian cancer patients.

Data Sharing and Use Pilot Award recipient, Dr. Aly Karsan (BC Cancer) and a team of BC-based researchers will use advanced genomic analysis on blood samples from the MOHCCN Gold Cohort to better understand the relationship between clonal hematopoiesis and leukemia.

September was a record-breaking month for the Network!

🎆 919 full genomic profiles and clinical data from 1,036 patients were added to our Gold Cohort, the biggest monthly jump ever!

This brings our total number of full genomes sequenced to 11,562 and of complete cases to 6,836!
