This warm spell has reminded me of Tierra del Fuego. Maybe it's the humidity? The smell of melting snow? The chilly breeze? Here's a whale vertebra, part of a nearly intact skeleton that served as a landmark while conducting fieldwork on Isla Navarino in early March, 2024.

Happy Friday! Here’s a shot from April of this year. One miserable “weather day” I emerged from reading in my bunk to take a snapshot of this rainbow in Coloane Fjord. Appropriately, I was reading “Tierra del Fuego” by Francisco Coloane, the namesake of this area.
