they're using non-union VAs specifically to avoid all the benefits that they'd be required to pay. I can almost assuredly say that they got paid basically peanuts for this job.

I'm aware that they paid the voice actors to train a model on their voices but the fact that a $40 game with $10 battle passes and $24 cosmetics can't afford to pay voice actors for consistent work and re-records when necessary is absolutely baffling

GenAI is a blight and I cannot support it at all

They use recordings from voice actors to train a generative AI model used in-game for *every NPC*. It's used way more than just a TTS-style accessibility feature.

It makes the voiceover sound so dull, lifeless, and just awful, not to mention the ethics of using AI for voice acting in general
