If it weren't for the wavering lips and blankly swirling eyes, you'd hardly be able to tell that Den, a round and soft badger, is deeply under Cinna's hypnotic spell. Aside from that, they're cooking up a delicious and seasonally fitting pepperjack soup, one that they've made plenty of times before and are more than happy to make on this occasion. In the background, Maple looks on with nonchalant concern-- a bit of a "this is too much effort, isn't it?" look on his face with folded arms, weight shifted a bit to one leg. Behind him, Cinna nestles up cozily, head rested on Maple's shoulder with both paws idly kneading and rubbing at his rotund stomach. As the Republic grew, so did its needs..." Hase, a lop-eared bunny, looks intently at the words on the screen. For all his years of studying German, it remained a tall order to translate things as on-the-fly as he would like. A few passages would go smoothly, but a paragraph like this would take some time. And yet...something seems different. Under the effects of a powerful trance, the words are *all* Hase sees. No distractions, no errant thoughts to get in the way, nothing but what each words means, how each phrase conjugates, what it all says, all at once, all so simply... "...im Laufe der Jahrzehnte vereinte sich das was eins der amerikanische Südwesten war unter der Flagge der Republik Neukalifornien, die sich der Werte Demokratie und Gesetzestreue aus der alten Welt verpflichten. Mit der Republik wuchsen auch ihre Bedürfnisse..." The German translation interweaves on top of the English passage. Ana couldn't hear the concerned whispers through the howling winds; not that they would've listened. Under no circumstances would they take that coat off, not on this miserable, icy, snowy...may afternoon...?
Ana (they/she), a red fox, shivers and huddles in their winter coat, earmuffs, and heavy-duty pants as they trudge through the snow...in reality, we see this is merely a perception of theirs brought on by hypnotic suggestion. I joined @vexingly-yours.com for a collab event of theirs called the Cosmic Creature Corner yesterday, where we both made characters off the same prompt. Here's how mine turned out!!

Putting this design up as an adopt, btw! 120 for the design, 250 gets it with a small ref sheet!
A purple cerberus-like 3-headed hellhound, dressed in a steampunk-like outfit and holding a cigarette in a long holder. They wields a gun with a comically large and conical barrel and multiple switches that change the functionality of the pistol. In its current mode, it operates as a cane, which they lean on with a smug demeanor. The head in the middle seems to have the majority of the cognitive function, looking haughty. The head on the left has larger fangs, shaggy hair, and a wild feral expression. The head on the right looks more mellow and unamused.
