Then what are you referring too?? I just came from Hamilton and used the HSR there extensively. The system works ok but not nearly as well as Edmontons has so far.

Generative AI is the apotheosis of this process. It's praised for doing better than a human on certain tasks, but those tasks were *made for computer logic* in the first place.
The new world will try to convince you that this computer logic is more valuable than your human thought. Defy it.

Also, the Hamilton LRT has been an absolute disaster and this is coming from someone who was 100% onboard for it before Ford and now Metrolinx keeps shitting the bed. They're barely into Phase 1 of 2! 2032 is an optimistic opening while the Valley Line extension opens by 2028. Both are 14km 🤷

I assume you're referring to HSR Next which is a 7 year project, assuming the city doesn't gimp it before then.

Adding to this, Ontario is hilariously expensive to live in, all the transit in the world can't offset that simple reality. And by the looks of it, Ontario is in no rush to build out the amount of affordable housing it would need to bring prices down to Edmonton levels. You win some, you lose some.

Having just come from Hamilton, where they can't even build one 14km LRT, I love the Edmonton system personally. And I've been using the buses quite a bit and they are far more frequent than the HSR ever was back in Hamilton 🤷 Does it have problems, of course, but they are trying here at least.

And many urbanists and planners think these pieces of shit are just fine and dandy to be running amok on our streets. It makes me want to tear my hair out listening to the defense of these things.

Anyone who said this was feasible was lying to you, either that or getting Saudi funding. There is nothing remotely feasible about a city in a straight line. Quite possibly one of the dumbest ideas dreamt up.

NEOM was always a joke, that and the octagonal coastal shipping city thing. All that endless money and the desert sun cooked their brains to mush while they invested in pipedreams.

Do we really need them thinner??? This is just desperation to sell phones as specs have completely plateaued and they've got nothing in the tank left.
