#mha431 I noticed that Katsuki asks Izuku if he'll continue teaching AFTER there's heavy focus on Katsuki's bloodied All Might card. There's a lack of shininess in Izuku's eyes that shows that he's not feeling good despite smiling. He's TRAUMATISED, the bloody card reminding him of Katsuki's death.

#mha431 The "handhold" between Izuku and Ochako is a parallel to the one they have in Chapter 429. Izuku offers her his hand "to soothe the pain" and lets her talk about Toga. In Chapter 431, Ochako offers her hand to Izuku instead, and she becomes the "Hero who helps Heroes who need saving!"

I genuinely want to encourage those who hate chapter 431 because it "canonises" that ship to read my analysis thread. It doesn't canonise the ship at all, and, in fact, there's absolutely nothing romantic going on between them whatsoever! Rather, it shuts the ship down as platonic once and for all.

MHA ends with bkdk canon! Whether you believe that 431 is canon or not (which Hori explicitly states that it does not have to be taken as canon if you don't want it to be), to me all 431 does is add a little more to the story.
