📝💡 New research by Prof @manyeekan.bsky.social & Dr @gczching.bsky.social finds that teenage girls spend more time on domestic work than boys - with the largest gender gaps found in Western societies, though still pronounced in East Asia.

Check out #GenTime research led by @gczching.bsky.social on adolescents' #timeuse in Japan, Korea, UK & Finland across 3 decades. Gender differences in time use emerge in adolescence. Girls already undertake twice as much domestic work as boys. @sociologyoxford.bsky.social

🔸 Unpaid work limits women's careers
🔸 Gender gaps in time use narrowed in 1980s-2000s but have now stalled
🔸 Men still do little unpaid work & change is too slow

To close these gaps, we need paid parental leave, flexible work & cultural shifts.

#InternationalWomensDay
For #IWD2025, we spoke to Man-Yee Kan & Grace Chang about their research on gender inequality in time use 👩⌛️

The GenTime project tracks how men & women spend time ⏲️

The findings are clear - women still do far more unpaid work than men.
