This might be going around. My company's CEO did a "challenge" where everyone who proved they made a chat with ChatGPT got paid a bit extra. Everyone did - $50 is $50 - but it baffled me as to why. It's a software company, but not remotely related to AI. Maybe OpenAI kicked back more than that

And I mean that as in: everyone is calling LLMs a "revolution". They're *fine* at *some* tasks. But everyone is making out that they're a leap like the Internet was a leap. And I don't buy it.

I'm not old enough to have been through a bubble or what people think of as a really transformative tech transformation. But it feels strange that our company is paying its employees to use this tool. Not just footing the bill for our usage day to day, but offering us extra pocket money to do so.

It's just really weird to me. It's enterprise ChatGPT, but as a SWE we also have other AI tools we use (when they're useful, which is mostly for unit tests).
But I just can't help but wonder if this is OpenAI marketing. Are they trying to do the apocryphal free hit to get you hooked? What is this?

Why wouldn't it be? He wasn't killed in a car crash. He was killed because of how he and his company profited pain and suffering.

They don't need to be broken up, they need to be destroyed. We don't need more companies profiting from death and pain. We need to take the profit incentive out of denying health care.
