The 2nd launch of FAO's Review of the State of World Marine Fishery Resources (the 1st was at #UNOC3 for delegates only) is planned for Sep 9. The report assesses 2,570 marine fish stocks using an updated methodology, the collective effort of 650 experts.

Yesterday at #UNOC3 I launched FAO’s report on the State of Marine Fisheries, with information from 2,570 fish stocks, classified into tiers depending on data and uncertainties. The most comprehensive, participatory and transparent assessment ever done, engaging over 650 experts. shorturl.at/gHVgJ

1/2 This week I attended the Honiara Summit on #SDG14.4 in Solomon Islands. Very large representation of heads of State and Ministers of #fisheries (or equivalent) from Pacific countries, and a very large presence of Secretaries of #RFMOs.

Today I am in the @ec.europa.eu at a high level round table on the EU_MARE #Oceans Pact. Offering @fao.org views for a sustainable and productive ocean. The EU imports 50% of its aquatic food consumption, so the #Oceans Pact must have a global component.

At UNFCCC #COP29 @fao.org presented country by country impacts of climate change on marine biomass. The report’s results were the average of 2 emission scenarios, 2 GCMs and 9 ecosystem models. The best there is. Here —> shorturl.at/h07cs
