never knew about this cartoon maker, sounds pretty cool! there's a reader question from earlier asking about this same method of capturing gameplay on your VCR. i actually did sort of accidentally discover this in 2001 and made Halo trick videos with friends, but sadly taped over them at some point

i think i'm a few months late to the party, but i played the demo for Phase Zero last night and this shit is so good.
this game is a great example of how there's still plenty of value to pre rendered bg's and (especially) static camera angles in terms of how they can enhance horror games

found it! the mod was called Desert Crisis. took some screenshots from a beta version from 2001, likely what i would have played.
i distinctly remember there was a map that played the song Safety Dance, and the mp3 for the song *is* in the files, but i couldn't find any map that uses it. oh well!

enjoyed my first night out of the video production mines by playing some Culdcept Saga with buds. game still absolutely owns and it kills me that it's stuck in 360 jail. would kill to get a new one, or for some indie devs to just fully copy it tbh.
