I'm wrapping up #FinEventStream, an end-to-end streaming data pipeline on AWS.

Few things are as satisfying as seeing data finally flow through a newly provisioned pipeline. For #FinEventStream, that elation followed untangling some classic 'works-on-my-machine' deployment quirks.

I've finalized the Terraform state for the producer instances in my #FinEventStream project. It’s always an interesting process moving beyond provisioning resources, and into the specifics of bootstrapping the application itself.

As I provision the S3 bucket for #FinEventStream with Terraform today, cost-awareness remains a key design principle. While S3 versioning is best practice for data protection, for example, I'm acutely aware that object versions increase storage costs (minimal as it might be).

My local Python producers for a personal streaming project are finally behaving! Got one pulling stock quotes, another company news, from the generous Finnhub API. That 'last seen ID' thing for the news feed to avoid dupes was a bit fiddly but got it sorted.

Your top priority on any todo list should be, "Build a portable, low-cost nuclear fusion generator."

You will be amazed what you can achieve while you're procrastinating on that one. I just answered five(!) emails.
