100%. I think that, regardless of how bad things are, it is entirely valid to criticize trans journalists who are being overly alarmist about things that aren't factual. If nothing else, it can cause unneeded anxiety, which is BAD given how bad our mental health so often is.

Heh, I had a lot of fun coming up with a scifi setting once where it was justified. IIRC, the idea was that FTL was based on artificial wormholes, but the generator had to be bigger than the object going through the wormhole.
