Thank you! This makes a lot more sense.

One of those things that keeps you up at night but you forget to look into.

Part of that, and part of what he learned and held dear, from his time with the old man and books, was the concept of Christian forgiveness.

Our Monster had no god, but he chose to follow his friend, and the bible's teachings.

What you are doesn't determine who you are.

Del Toro has always had a very soft heart compared to other latin storytellers.

The ending wasn't redemption for Viktor in my mind, it was so the Monster can carry on without the weight of the hatred towards his creator. It's fueled its entire conscious existence to this point.

There's an episode of an older Greg Davies show, Man Down, where he had a bag of sausage meat from the butcher that he referred to as mince.

A big ol' plate of unaccompanied mince.

Is this some regional thing that's confused all of us now?

It's haunted me for years and Google is useless.

I don't know what it is, but you're right. It looks as I'd expect yet grossly alien.

It's weird when you leave your front door these days though. Hope you managed to have a good time!

... and I'm too stubborn to change.

We have seen so many clients who have come to us to fix their old team's mess. They're usually loaded to the max with subscriptions for stats etc... yet do no digital spends and have pitiful traffic.

It's always funny hearing what sales people told them.
November 16, 2025 at 11:52 AM
I think more people have been putting the stats and data over their potential client / customer in the landing page realm for far too long.

My methodology has just always relied on qualifying the lead, treating em as humans, and simplifying the shit out of the brief.

It's worked for 20 years.

Loyalty doesn't seem to be on any of their minds however, because they'll only be loyal to whoever presents them the offer that gives them the biggest dollar amount.

They're not trade agreements, they're the ground work for competition to present something better.

The way they communicate, their body language, the pandering, the gifts... It's all pageantry to get what they want out of each other.

But the fascinating part is just how fucking gullible and susceptible they are to each other's tactics.
November 15, 2025 at 2:36 PM
This is the question that haunts a lot of us economic nerds... But is more psychological and behavioural.

We've entered a time where people are so dedicated to using one another for financial gain, they all behave like car salesman.

People have never been more transparent.
November 15, 2025 at 2:36 PM
I should say that doesn't make you wrong.

Design is subjective, but must adhere to standards, sometimes.

That part is actually correct.

I wrote a rant that it was actually proper kerning for the use case cause it created symmetry and equal weight on the brand and modifier... Yet didn't notice the stray space.

It's everywhere to the point even I've normalized it... And I've kerned manually since 1997.
November 13, 2025 at 1:57 PM
I think design wise, I wouldn't have done anything different.

It's more surprising it adhered to any standards given the clients.

I've littered Canada up with logos since 2007, and I hate every single one of them... even if it paid for my house.

Designer problems.
November 13, 2025 at 1:42 PM
serifs to better create the circular illusion.

This allows the designated font to be usable, and allows the 'logo' to adhere to mathematical composition, and govt design standards.

...

Still looks like shit...
November 13, 2025 at 1:42 PM
It's actually more typographically, and compositionally sound than most of their shitty signs and logos.

For this composition, the extended space between characters used is actually the nominal option.

It creates symmetry (as seen) between the name and modifier, which also allows the...

I'm talking the real money people I've met in my life, not the people who think they're the 1%...

The ones who just get to go hang out with Formula 1 teams cause they paid 80k a head... for their 20 friends and them after chartering a jet to Azerbaijan.
