The next notification I received was that the paper was accepted.

Given @bmj.com’s commitment to open peer review and post-publication scrutiny (which I admire), I have no doubt we will hear about a formal editorial investigation soon. /fin

…and sample size inconsistencies in the protocol versus the report (and within the report).

The data seemed impressive. Too good to be true I guess?

I never saw the paper again in peer review after that initial review. 2/n

Unbelievable. I won’t be setting foot in your country for any conferences, family visits, vacations… what a dystopian nightmare.

I was the same. Now I actually use the Microsoft to-do app. When you check off a task it gives a super satisfying “bing” noise!

My approach too. First intubation with a trainee I’ve never worked with before is VL and they describe what we are looking at. If they are anesthesia residents I’ll let them do DL if they insist.
Off service residents and med students - 💯 VL - I won’t supervise anything else.

Why hands only for outpt procedures? Ask because I just put a small iv in the ac for my patients coming for an outpt procedure. Usually dead simple to cannulate even if you can’t see it, less propfol injection pain, and the iv comes out in a couple of hours when they head home.

Total number of complications (virtual care or not) doesn’t seem to change, however, they are caught earlier and are less severe as a result. 2/2

We have a fairly mature post surgical discharge virtual recovery program (established as part of the pvc-ram trial BMJ 2021). ENCOMPASS data is exactly in line with my clinical observation that virtual care acts as an early warning system. 1/2

Not sure if some shared this already in this thread… patient using CGPT develops bromine based on advice he received.
