Splatoon, Valorant, Persona enjoyer. Bluesky version of @ManOfTheCactus7.
Overall, extremely solid experience with extremely few hiccups. The mega Pokemon gimmick has been officially redeemed in my eyes and I'm excited to see where they take these game mechanics

8/10 I love you, mega ampharos

If you read my OT1 review, you'll know I did a tier list of the 8 character plotlines. Attached to this post is a revised tier list with the 8 new characters, keeping the 8 original for reference. You can see that I'm much harsher to the original cast since its that harsh of a difference (3/16)

IT'S TIME FOR THE OCTOPATH TRAVELER 2 REVIEW (no I wasn't caught up with something I was just lazy and put it off)

This will obviously have heavy comparisons to OT1 since I played it so soon after but I'll have it in the same format (pros vs cons etc) but most of it will be positive (1/16)

Tier list of subs and specials I would want for a potential explo kit (except more modern since third kits are real) explanation for some of these in replies

I like the H-3 Nozzlenose

I feel like atlus have their priorities in the wrong place if this ends up being real. Don't get me wrong, I loved Reload, but I don't think P4 needs this compared to like, P1+2. I'm not worried about P6 because I'm pretty sure those are separate teams tho

I heard Octopath II was significantly better about a lot of these glaring issues, and I will be playing it soon, but I need like a week or 2 to take a break because this game has been my every waking moment for like the whole past week. (33/33)

(also here's a funny image I saw looking for strats)

The jobs system is meant to give these characters more to do than a simple warrior, mage, or healer job, but you'd be a fool if you put Cyrus on the warmaster or Olberic on the Sorcerer, the stats just don't work. And some party members feel weak no matter what jobs you give them (31/33)

Like, the plots are *fine* on their own, though they mostly lack depth, but putting all of them side by side really shows which ones the writers had real passion for. I attached a tier list that basically sums up my thoughts on the 8 storylines. (15/33)

I HAVE FINISHED METAPHOR: REFANTAZIO. Only took like 100 hours but I did get it done, which means...

REVIEW TIME

I have a lot of things I think this game does really well, a few things I think it could do better, and a few thoughts on the future of ATLUS games. Let's jump in. (story spoiler free)

Finally, my personal Game Of The Year: Persona 3 Reload
I've attached my full thoughts on the game to this post, but this game, while not perfect, is a phenomenal way for newcomers to the Persona series to experience P3 without all of the 2006 friction. Absolute banger game, thank you ATLUS 10/10

HM: Metaphor: ReFantazio
I have not finished this game yet (though I am close) and when I do finish it I will likely write a comprehensive review but I think the gameplay, writing, style, and world of this game are simply unmatched. If you are a fan of ATLUS games, you should give it a shot 10/10

HM: Lethal Company
This is the type of game that you would think only exists to be a goofy game played with friends, but it has so much depth as a video game on top of that and I find myself continuing to come back to it even after the hype has died down. Absolute masterclass of a videogame 10/10

Splatoon 3: Side Order
I fully believe Splatoon venturing into new genres is something this series desperately needs if it wants to stay fresh, and I think this DLC is a fine start. However, for a roguelike which is meant to be infinitely replayable, they definitely could've done better 8/10

Red Dead Redemption
Like a lot of people, I played RDR2 first, so I went into this expecting a lesser version of that, but it still has the high quality writing the series is known for. The only real issue I have is the variety of environments, the game felt like a desert simulator sometimes 9/10

Hi-Fi Rush
This game is straight up awesome. Taking a somewhat complicated genre of hack and slash and combining it with something as simple as rhythm works super well. The world and characters are so goofy and have so much love put into them, I hope we can get a sequel someday 9/10

Super Mario Party Jamboree
Definitely the best mario party on the switch, the mechanics feel balanced (looking at you, character dice), the boards feel varied and fun and the game takes leaps in aspects the series hasn't done before. Hope to see the series improve 8/10

Astro Bot
This game won GOTY for a reason. Extremely refreshing game from Sony, a publisher that has mostly homogenized itself. This game has me smiling the whole time I play it, it's just awesome 10/10
December 31, 2024 at 8:48 PM
Marvel Rivals
A very refreshing take on a hero shooter. Some of the characters in this game are super fun to play but I worry about the game's longevity considering its hyper-casual approach. However this game is optimized like shit and the developers NEED to do better on that 8/10

The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles
These are definitely my favorite games in the ace attorney series. The story is interesting, the gameplay is refined, the characters are hilarious. It's got everything an ace attorney game needs and I think it goes above and beyond in all aspects 10/10

MiSide
Honestly I think the devs did a pretty good job with this one, I don't play traditional horror games very often but this one kept me on edge the whole time which some games can't say. Great game to play if you have a free night and want to get spooked 9/10

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 (zombies specifically)
First ever zombies mode I've ever played and I can definitely see why people like it. Had fun with the people I played with but it's not the type of game that I could play without people I know 7/10

Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney
For being the first game to not have phoenix as the protagonist, i think this game does a really good job at setting itself apart and feeling like its own thing. The story really hooked me and I liked the perception mechanic a lot 9/10
