I love how "The Administration" is trying to throw the various Secretaries under the bus. First, Noem with the ICE deportations, now Hegseth with the fishing boat strikes.
They are trying to insulate Trump and Vance from any potential 2026 fallout. It won't work, but it is fun to watch.

Not if the new NASA is partially profit driven. Combine Fed Funds with a partial corporate model. If NASA takes ove Space X, eliminates the unnecessary upper management (Musk and his Yes men), then the engineers can be unleashed to deliver the best tech. NASA then sells its services to the world.

I would need to know how long patents are good for and what kind of protections they apply.

Space X is just like any other contractor. That's why USAID was investigating them for fraudulent Starlink sales and sales of protected technologies to a foreign adversary (Russia).
