I still remember the time I donated one of my Doomguy helmets to Mark Diaz (then with id Software back in 2019/2020), and the helmet even got featured in Doom Eternal’s end credits!

Gotta get back to that ASAP.

The classic battle scene for Doom Immortal, depicting the Doom Marine blowing away two Imps and a Pinky with the Super Shotgun (which now has four barrels). The Marine is also surrounded by a Cacodemon, a Pain Elemental, two Lost Souls, and a heavily wounded Mancubus with its right arm cannon blown off as it attempts to fire with its left arm cannon. A reinterpretation of the Zombieman from Doom 1993, this zombified soldier is wearing a futuristic but heavily-scarred armor that is tan-beige in color. The pants have been torn apart to show the bare legs, the sleeves are torn to reveal bare arms, the main torso armor is riddled with bullet holes and scratches, and a headset is on the left ear. The skin is a sickly gray with several spindle-like bone protrusions jutting out in various places, and facial features have seemingly “melted away” (leaving behind just a single glowing eye), and the pale green buzzcut has grown unkempt. The top of the image also reveals a more detailed rendering of the zombie’s weapon (a variant of what appears to be a FAMAS bullpup rifle but with a cylindrical magazine). There are two additional sketches of two more Silent variants, including one with more samurai-like armor and one with a belt/pack-fed weapon while on cybernetic legs. The official description: “If the Unwilling used to be former civilians, then the Silent are essentially former soldiers. Unlike the Unwilling who are meant to inflict suffering, the Silent are primarily meant to inflict violence. This is evident in the physical build of Silent, in which the heavily-distorted face is now made incapable of consuming flesh or making any kind of organic vocalizations. Aside from the occasional mutation, Silent are mostly unchanged from the neck down as they are made to continue using the firearms they have on-hand. It can also be surprisingly difficult to tell apart a Silent from a non-zombified soldier, as it’s not uncommon for these former soldiers to wear helmets. This leads to the former human’s namesake: namely that any vocalizations made emanate from the zombie’s radio instead of any true organic vocalizations. A reinterpretation of the Shotgun Guy from Doom 1993, this zombified soldier is wearing a heavy and rusted slate-gray armor. This zombie is covered head-to-toe in heavily-plated armor, and there are also some pouches on the thigh plates and chest plate, as well as a bandolier carrying shotgun shells on the right leg. The skin is a sickly gray with tainted veins several spindle-like bone protrusions jutting out in various places, and while a pair of glowing red eyes are present, the neck armor doesn’t show what happened to the lower face. The arms are also containing abnormally thick forearms. The top of the image also reveals a more detailed rendering of the zombie’s weapon (a simplistic but heavy-looking pump-action shotgun). There are two additional sketches of two more Silent variants, including one with a pistol and riot shield, and one with what appears to be helmeted one with some kind of flamethrower. The official description, continued: “What further differentiates a Silent from an Unwilling is the amount of violence a former human has committed in their past life. As a result, it’s not unusual for these former humans to have primarily consisted of soldiers, mercenaries, riot police, etc. Additionally, a Silent’s main goal is to inflict as much violence on the living as possible be it with their own firearms or bare hands. This often entails gunning down humans until death is confirmed (even if said humans are not combatants themselves, or until the Silent is downed themselves. Otherwise, a Silent will either be made to patrol an area or to simply stand in place completely inert.” A reinterpretation of the Possessed Soldier from Doom 2016, this zombified soldier is wearing a more tactical armor that’s mainly gray and black. This zombie has more of a tactical look to it, wearing body armor atop a black camo uniform. The uniform is primarily shown through the pants, and the body armor just covers the torso, thighs, and groin. The body horror is more pronounced in this instance, as this zombie soldier not only has a similar deathly pallor, but is also wielding some kind of microwave laser that has completely fused to its right arm. The facial features appears to have melted, showing crude holes where the mouth and nostrils used to be, and a pair of glowing eyes are shown through similarly-crude eyeholes. The left arm and its respective fingers also have elongated to an unnatural degree. Even the “wiring” on the right arm’s laser gun may actually consist of intestines. There are two additional sketches of two more Silent variants, including one with a plasma rifle, and one with what appears to be helmeted one dual-wielding SMGs. The official description, concluded: “While the Silent has no objective outside of inflicting violence, sometimes the original human’s soul will make itself known by temporarily regaining control of the body. This seems to indicate that in the process of demonic possession, the human soul ends up being helpless to watch as their body is forced to commit unspeakable acts by the demonic force possessing the body. Unfortunately, there is no known method of separating the demonic force from the possessed body (outside of permanent release).”

This is an excerpt from a TVTropes page that discusses a book called “Victoria”, which was written by a far-right crank and said book has even been described as “the paleocon Turner Diaries”.

I’ve been thinking about this specific section a lot, for reasons.
“The novel is founded on a bafflingly strict idea that garbage culture equals garbage humans. Those who embrace things like punk rock end up preying on decent folks from the ruins of Pittsburgh with face paint and a Mohawk, while people of the Northern Confederation make everything beautiful, moral, and true with zeal usually reserved for the Taliban. NorCon destroys Lady Land Azania over NC women's fury that its cloning program refuses marriage and motherhood. They set down field and farm and village as the proper limits of your world, with physical health from labor and moral health from neighbors, friends, and family, all of whom will turn on you the second you're unvirtuous. They get rid of TV, computers, and cars with a range of more than 25 miles as inherently evil, since they destroy community and create disgusting false realities - besides, you should be spending your evenings entertaining on your front porch. Cities are inferior, but acceptable once cut down to size through ethnic cleansing and the razing of suburbs, malls, and much of everything else invented after the motorcar (This starts as practicality, gas being unaffordable, and continues as a years-long ideological frenzy demolishing all ugly modernity.)
