I wrote about the different aspects, "Spider" and 'Man". My argument was that the one that truly mattered was what I called, 'The Hyphen". The middle of the two. To summarize, his marriage to Mary Jane kept him together the same way a hyphen keeps his name together. My favorite essay I ever written.
