A UNESCO intergovernmental committee has decided to add six items from Japan, including the Murakami Festival in the city of Murakami, Niigata Prefecture, to the U.N. agency's Intangible Cultural Heritage list.
Six Japanese items added to UNESCO intangible heritage list
Four of the six new items will be registered under the category of 'Yama, Hoko, Yatai, float festivals in Japan.'

#Etna, Southeast Crater, 12 May 2025. For the 13th time in little less than 2 months, our volcano is producing a great show, with two lava flows, one to southeast, the other south, and gorgeous pulsating lava fountains, without much ash, a wonderful display admired by everyone.

The 11th eruptive episode at #Etna's Southeast Crater since 15 March started at midnight (local time) on 30 April 2025. It produced two lava flows, on the southeastern and southern flanks and was more intense than its predecessors.
