Shipping costs will skyrocket - big corporations will benefit, while everyday canadians and small businesses will pay thrice. Small businesses will close - without affordable delivery, they can't compete. Good union jobs will vanish - replaced with low paying, insecure, "gig economy" jobs with no protections. Rural and vulnerable communities will suffer most - private couriers won't serve them fairly or affordably, cutting them off from vital access. It sets a precedent - if the government can erase a public unionized service like Canada Post, what stops them from targeting healthcare, education, or other services next?
