Normal to want, and possible to achieve.
I’m staying in an AirBnB for two nights and I just woke up to this…

Good news! Glad to hear that.

Exactly; some fans of ‘big’ clubs are totally divorced from reality!
November 12, 2025 at 2:24 PM
That’s very strange. I very rarely block people online — certainly not just because they have a different perspective on football! They’d have to really cross a line somehow.
November 12, 2025 at 2:22 PM
Yeah that’s fair. That’s certainly a balancing act! I feel like we have waited too long this season to sack Manning, so I do see both sides there.
November 12, 2025 at 2:22 PM
Totally! Nothing winds me up more than this stuff with Liverpool losing a few games, and then the Sky Sports pundits start going on about ‘Crisis Time!’ because they are ‘only’ fourth in the Premier League — like most fans wouldn’t kill for that? A ‘crisis’ is Wednesday, or Reading, or Morcambe…
November 12, 2025 at 2:21 PM
That’s tough because there’s such fine margins in football, especially nowadays! But bigger clubs than us have fallen way down the football pyramid thanks to poor decisions by their boards, and taken years to claw their way back up. I can see that starting to happen here too, and that’s worrying!
November 12, 2025 at 2:07 PM
Yeah, I get that, and I totally see what you mean. And I know that isn’t disrespectful (that’s honestly been refreshing to have a conversation about football on social media with someone who has a different perspective, but isn’t just being a knob about it!).

I never agreed with sacking Farke at Norwich in the first place, but I understood the reasoning. But the fact is we’ve been on a downward trajectory ever since. Our fans spent the last few years calling for various coaches to go, only for the next one to be worse. I hope they’re proud of themselves.
November 12, 2025 at 1:57 PM
That’s true, but I would say that some of the ‘grass is always greener’ mentality some fans seem to have is another form of being too emotionally-led. Sometimes you don’t know what you’ve got ‘til it’s gone — and that’s certainly been the case for us.
November 12, 2025 at 1:57 PM
I do get what you’re saying, I promise. But also, players and coaches are different! That’s a fundamentally different role. Players can be limited by physicality, but management is more cerebral; people can — at least in theory — learn and adapt.

I think that was also in the board’s mind that someone who has won the ultimate prize for a Championship club has at least earned the right to have a shot before getting the chop — which doesn’t seem too unreasonable to me.
November 12, 2025 at 12:04 AM
That all sounds very fair. Except that, as I said, there was no way to know back then whether he was up to the job or not. There might be now, but there wasn’t then — so that would’ve just sacking someone based on an assumption, which is actually pretty silly.
November 11, 2025 at 11:23 PM
Punishing someone for success is crazy. Not an attitude football needs. As for whether he has the attributes required… judging that based on less than two Premier League seasons at my club (Norwich) where he was fundamentally failed by our board gives you very little to go on. Judging now is fairer.
November 11, 2025 at 11:19 PM
To be honest, I kind-of agree with him on that. I have no idea how ‘xG’ is calculated — and frankly, I’ve no desire to, either. Leave some romance in the game for goodness’ sake!

There is absolutely an argument to say Farke’s job is at risk now. To say he should’ve gone the day of promotion is mad.
November 11, 2025 at 11:14 PM
Honestly, nothing would make me happier. But I was rooting for him to succeed with you guys, as I rate him as a coach and he had a great relationship with the fans here; I feel like he never had a fair crack of the whip in the Premier League with us as our board refused to back him with signings.
November 11, 2025 at 6:23 PM
I don’t think that’s the same thing at all. Even if that were, those players wouldn’t be out on their ear literally the day promotion is secured, because that would be psychotic.
November 11, 2025 at 6:20 PM
Absolutely mental. What’s the prize for achieving success and winning promotion? Losing your job. Who’d sign up for that?!
