Well it's called (Farsi Persian). Persian is the general term for all Persian languages.

Farsi Persian is more specific but in short people just said Farsi.

There are other languages like (Tajik Persian, Dari Persian) associated with their respected country.

Persian is Broad term, not specific.

I learned that Persian is the general term for all Persian language. Iran has one of the dilects (Farsi Persian).

Just like there is (Dari Persian) for Afghanistan etc

So I would assume to be more specific on the type of Persian, people say Farsi to make it easier.
