Kings tried to trade monk earlier in the offseason and it was reported there was no market because of his contract/small guard archetype. I’m curious how warriors would be able to flip him to a 3rd team now for possibly more assets when we couldn’t dump him earlier this year it felt like.

Probably more than I would’ve liked to offer, but this route eliminates us having to find a 3rd team for DeMar/monks contract. Warriors aren’t going to get a better offer than this

A third team would’ve worked well for warriors and kings (like they tried to do with monk to Detroit) but since other teams have moved on after neither team wanted to budge. Other teams already used their cap, so finding a team to absorb a monk/moody might be more difficult. RFA is weird this year

I mean it’s kind of a lose lose situation currently for the warriors. They pay him a big contract which they don’t necessarily want to do, they make a lackluster trade which gets them some ok pieces back or they lose him for nothing after he plays out the QO.

Keeping kuminga on the QO would almost certainly mean warriors lose him for no return next summer in UFA.

Giving up Keegan to pay kuminga would make no sense. Warriors don’t have the leverage in the situation to ask for Keegan.
