I am so excited to share our review on microglial heterogeneity @natureneuro.bsky.social! It was a fantastic effort by the lab, led by @c9laura72.bsky.social and Alma Mohebiany. We provide a critical view on the plethora of microglial cell states in health and disease. www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Proud of this collaboration with Philip Van Damme’s team: we show that microglia and astrocytes behave differently in sporadic vs. C9orf72 ALS across human tissue, iPSC-derived cells and in vivo xenografts.

“Our neurogenetics legacy continues, but we’ve also made room for new directions”
Under the joint leadership of Rosa Rademakers and Renzo Mancuso, the Center is expanding its pioneering work in neurogenetics into neuroimmunology.

This weekend, our teams @cmn-vib.bsky.social & our amazing lab are trading lab coats for running shoes! We're hitting the pavement to raise funds for Alzheimer's research — a cause close to our hearts and minds. Every step we take brings us closer to a cure. StopAlzheimer

Laura Fumagalli (@mancusorenzo.bsky.sociallab) was recently awarded a pilot grant from Stichting Alzheimer Onderzoek. 🙌

This grant will support her research on the role of microglia in ALS and FTD.
