Wasn’t AI filmmaking supposed to be cheaper? 30M is a lot of money for animation. The silver lining is that this will look like ass.
OpenAI confirms they're helping make an AI-generated movie called 'Critterz'

• Goal is to finish production in 9 months
• Budget is ~$30M
• Plan is to debut the film at Canne
• 'Paddington 3' writers penned the script
• Art will be fed into Chat GPT 5 and other image models

What infuriates me most is that there are no jobs. Especially in Louisiana. This is the dog whistle that they just want everyone to accept shitty pay and shitty conditions because it’s literally do that or die.

I fucking hate it here, man. Class warfare at its end point.
Rep. Steve Scalise says of proposed Medicaid cuts: "35-year-olds sitting at home playing video games, they're gonna now have to go get a job."

"And by the way, that's a good thing for them — their mom doesn't want them sitting in the basement playing video games anyway."

Buddy I think "This content that ended up printed in our newspaper was not approved by anyone in our newspaper" raises more questions than the one you're trying to avoid answering!!!1!
We are looking into how this made it into print as we speak. It is not editorial content and was not created by, or approved by, the Sun-Times newsroom. We value your trust in our reporting and take this very seriously. More info will be provided soon.

Even for atheists, this message from Pope Leo XIV is understandable and deserving of repetition:
You cannot follow both Christ and the cruelty of kings. A leader who mocks the weak, exalts himself, and preys on the innocent is not sent by God. He is sent to test you. And many are failing.

As a recovering American Catholic, I’m not optimistic about an American Pope. This feels like a bad place. I think this will signal bad times for all of us, but I am here for the in-fighting of the evangelical right trying to argue against Chicago Pope. Fox News will have some WILD nicknames

What happened with Polygon today is so fucked. Vox Media has made some atrocious decisions in my six years here but this is really something else. And to do this in the middle of us bargaining a new union contract, where they scold us for asking for better protections, is just unconscionable.

By now you've probably heard the news: Polygon has been sold to Valnet and I, along with most of my wonderful colleagues, have been laid off.

That said, I'm now open to new opportunities! If you've enjoyed my work and would like to work together in any capacity, please feel to hit me up via my DMs!

I’ve bounced from journalism, to marketing, to the film industry. I have been laid off 5 times since I was 23 years old just starting out in my career.

Nothing but hate, bile, and venom for the C-suite across all industries.
nothing but hate in my heart for the people who are stripping our creative industries for parts

Killing all gaming media on the eve of a big console launch and a few months before what will likely be the biggest video game of all time is smart and well thought-out business from people that definitely do not spend all day eating their own shit.

As a huge fan of independent media and worker focused business models. The first team to make a Dropout style business out of the shattered remains of so many good journalists and personalities will be the future.

Independent. Direct to user. With a studio model infrastructure for new voices.

When I went to college (2005) for journalism, I wanted to write in games media. Even my professors laughed at me. After graduating I was convinced by smarter people that games media would not pay the bills so I took my first “stable” job as a writer at an Ad Agency. I was laid off in 6 months.

This makes me so happy. I worked at GameStop during the 360/PS3/ Wii era. Game Informer was my ultimate goal before the Corporate Overlord, GameStop, crushed my spirit and drove me away from working in games ever again. Seeing a healthy and independent Game Informer is so important.
Game Informer is back! The entire team is returning and we can't wait to reconnect. Come join us to celebrate the best in games, the people who make games, and the people who play games from all around the world.

This is like when you give your little cousin a controller that isn’t plugged in. He is lost in a K-hole slamming the mouse button while watching a pre-recorded video.
Here's Elon playing Diablo 4, via a video by Shivon Zilis, Neuralink exec and mother of three of his children.

He played 17 hours on Christmas Eve 2023 but she said he "took breaks for family meals and Xmas presents ... Was a joy to see him having so much fun"
