On second thoughts and going to the pictures again. This is either an incomplete cross with one part of the vertical shaft missing or two different crosses combined. Possibly the cross head coming from a later cross. Still amazing carvings

Hi. That is eye watering and unnecessary. Get an Interrail ticket for half the price, even after you pay for the reservations, it also gives you the chance of switching trains without problems. And yes, there are first class Interrail tickets.

You don't know how delicious candy corn is until somebody makes you move house and entirely removes it from Halloween and your reach. And then two years later a visitor brings you a small bag....

Sorry to hear things are tough. May I offer you the last dahlia from my garden. She was worth waiting for. Perhaps it will make you smile.

Ouch. Too familiar for words. Still fixing this paid for quite a lot of my PhD.

I have been trying to find head to toe oiling in the 5-7th c and there doesn't seem to be evidence for that either at that point. In good news at the end of the 7th we see the rise of infant baptism, which led to changes of the infrastructure.

I agree, but standing on top of a column for weeks is equally bizarre and weird and still it is a feature of early Christianity. 'Overcoming the weakness of the flesh' did seem more than once have merged into (self-)harm.

It is explicitly mentioned in one account.
And those particular font shapes are very late fourth and fifth, and two cases staying in use to the Ned of the baptistry, which may have been a couple of centuries later (evidence of the pottery not as clear as you would like it).

There are a number of contemporary accounts (5-7th c) that talk of the christening happening with the robe on and definitely no evidence in them for towelling. If you have good contemporary evidence for he salving, please let me know, I am collecting this for an article and happy to acknowledge.

Pullunder is the old name (back in the 30s/40s). A pullover to wear under a jacket, that couldn't have sleeves because the jacket sleeves were too tight.

Cold water in the Easter night and no towels instead 5 hours of service in an unheated church in a thin wet shirt. There are at least two gravestones commemorating people who died within a week (probably of pneumonia).
Not sure we use the term 'fun' in the same way.😇
