So my current plan is to maintain my own website, newsletter, and Discord server as my primary platforms and build a community there with those who genuinely enjoy my music. Your blog post only reinforced this decision for me, so thanks!

It’s a fact that almost everyone prefers Meta, but I find it completely unhealthy as an artist to be at the mercy of a corporate giant’s algorithm, forced to create content that has nothing to do with me, and then exposed to the hatred and frustrations of people I don’t want any connection with.

It was really great to read your post about whether one can be successful through mainstream social media, and as a musician, I feel the same way.

Currently trying to find alternative platforms to Meta because, aside from its terrible algorithms, the content there is driving me insane. But both Bluesky and Mastodon still feel like ghost towns for now. I’m focusing on community building through my own website, newsletters, and Discord instead.
