Magic Rules Conundrum…

Does anyone know if Fatal Mutation cares whether the card was face down before it was turned face up?

(As far as I know there is no way to turn a face-up card face-up, so this is just for science.)

Not gonna claim the set is great. But it was lightyears ahead of its block forebears Ice Age and Homelands.

Don’t be dissing Coldsnap!

Those designers knew how to turn a small set to their advantage.

It’s looking like Fire Lord Azula will be the hot commander out of TLA. How should I build this?

Dimir Midrange is the most popular deck post-ban. But guess what’s winning…

RIP Tatsuya Nakadai

Harakiri, Ran, The Human Condition Trilogy, Samurai Rebellion, Kwaidan…

One of the great soulful actors.

If we are all going to be destroyed by a Nevinyrral’s Disk, let that disk find us doing sensible and human things - teaching, reading, listening to music, bathing the children, playing tennis, chatting to our friends over a pint - not huddled together like frightened sheep and thinking about disks.

I was so stoked for this till I read the word “tapped.” Are creature ambush effects really that much worse than counterspells or removal stapled to a creature?

Yeah, the flavor is awkward. I guess they didn’t want to reprint Divine Reckoning.

This is a fascinating design. Depending on the threats your opponent is presenting it could be great. Imagine against a green Ourobouroid deck. On the other hand, in 2025 Magic, with so many ETB creatures, it’s strictly worse than a full wrath. But what about decks that want to sac?
