I actually sent one of these to TeamEurope recently, who attempted to dump what looked like the ROM glob, but it does't seem to contain anything that looks valid.

Might be the code is internal to the CPU, and can't be dumped.

MAME avoided it for a while due to the MPEG stuff, but beyond that, lack of interest from anybody capable of implementing it.

(it might sound illogical, but MAME tends to be best tested after a release as more eyes are on it, so without a monthly release little regressions, like the SEEPROM issue which broke a bunch of stuff, can creep in unnoticed, so longer cycles tend to result in buggier builds)

these ones are almost certainly different though, as they're different in ways other than the colour externally, and are different PCBs

.. it boots to a Takara splash screen and the menus are in Japanese.

also the plastic stuff is turning into sticky goo, this is disgusting.
