Young heart and mind trapped in an old body 🤣 Fiercely liberal, still have my moral compass, and believe in equality for everyone (except the 1%; they deserve to be rounded up and banished on a deserted island somewhere)
Hope u feel better!
On Fri hubby tripped over the weed-eater on the front porch & slammed into the railing. Both forearms are so scraped up & bruised. And then the weed-eater rolled backwards & slammed into my foot, bruising several toes. Apparently I need to "put the damn thing away" next time?

Well I certainly went for several decades without noticing it. 🤯

WTF?!?! The Bible verses must be a new thing.
We used to have In-N-Out at least twice a month when we lived in CA, and I would have noticed that! Last time I ate there (Dec 2023), it was just their old logo like it was for the previous 25-ish years that I would eat there.

3/ She was a GATE student who suddenly couldn't comprehend anything above 4th grade reading level. She had to learn to give up doing things perfectly, and just get them done without worrying about the grade. She did graduate on time, but had C's & D's those last 2 yrs.

2/ I often wonder if she had been allowed to take her junior yr off, if she would have gotten better. She was doing online classes & the teacher cut down her work to the bare minimum. But the cognitive & emotional stress was high.

1/ Yikes! It scares me that some people play Russian Roulette w/their health like that! Everyone's immune system is different of course, but you don't really know until it's too late.
My dad had it 3 yrs ago & had some LC symptoms, but he rested aggressively & got better.

No - she's been seeing an infectious disease doc at a pediatric long-covid clinic in DC since April 2022 & she said it's clearly LC w/the timeline of her infection & onset of symptoms.
And while she was very active before this, she was never an outdoorsy kid, so Lyme is very unlikely.

Hubby & I never had it. Our teen had it 1x in Aug '21. I took her to visit a friend as a 16th BD gift. Followed all the guidelines at the time, but she tested pos when we got home. Mild case, but then long-covid destroyed her health. She spends 90% of her time in bed now. I'll never forgive myself.

2/ This guy is very intelligent, pretty liberal, & does know about LC, since I'm quite vocal about my 19 yo's battle w/ LC over the past 45 months. I just don't get it. Will probably send him some articles to read this weekend. At least he will read them, & maybe talk to his son's Drs their opinion.

1/ A coworker is visiting his 20 yo son, who was hospitalized last wk for cardiac problems. We work remotely, so he's just working from his son's place this week. I asked about recent covid infections or multiple infections over the last 5 yrs. Says, yes, but that can't be the reason. 🤦🏼‍♀️

One more reason I still mask in public.
I messed up 4 wks ago; walked to Dollar General w/o noticing my mask wasn't on my bag. In the store for less than 10 min. Caught some bug (not covid) that lasted 2 wks. This was only my 3rd virus since 2020; had forgotten how much I hate being sick.

Like all bullies, these assholes are cowards at heart. Unless they are in a large group, it seems like they back down and flee when confronted by the public.

It would be one thing if she was disabled in an accident. But this is a mostly preventable disease. All it took was one person deciding to ignore the risks.
We were fully vaxxed, masking & sanitizing. Still do, bc repeated infections could cause more damage, & who takes care of her if I get sick?
July 12, 2025 at 11:44 PM
Dr Al-Aly has been a great advocate for people with long-covid / PASC since the start of this nightmare.
Unfortunately, a lot of people just want to move on & ignore the risks.
I'm reminded of the risks every single day, as I support my 19 yr old who is confined to bed 90% of her day due to PASC.

4/ and the cognitive decline, I don't think she'll ever be able to attend college or work more than ten hours a week. All that promise & all those hopes & dreams crushed because of a "minor" infection. If we had just had a competent government when this all started, things could have been different.

3/ She had to drop all her college prep classes & struggled to do even basic reading & writing & math. Even w/accomodations, she got all C's & Ds her last 2 yrs. She's regained some on her cognitive skills back, but still well below where she was pre-covid. Between physical health, mental health,

2/ We thought we dodged a bullet. 4 wks after her quarantine, the bottom dropped out of our world. She developed severe chronic pain, had a huge drop in IQ & extreme emotional swings. GATE student who was on track for early graduation & she forgot how to use scissors at one point.

1/ I've definitely noticed a change in people's overall cognitive abilities & emotional regulation. I'm covid-free, as is my hubby, but our teenager was infected once in Aug '21, just after her 16th BD. Mild infection, fever never broke 100, no respiratory symptoms, just a little tired.

My kid dropped her nap when she was 18 mos. Honestly, I was thrilled. It would take 90 min of rocking & walking the floor & bouncing & swaddling before she fell sleep. And her naps were 45 min tops. We just did a 90 min quiet time instead; she'd sit in her bed & play or sing to herself or read.
