Yep. Haven’t crossed the border to the USA since the first time the orange scourge took office. Not planning to visit any time soon. Quite honestly, it shocks me that anyone is still visiting. Nothing personal. Maybe now’s the time to take a “little trip” up north, before it’s too late.

Been on that for months now. Boycotting Bezos and google too. And I’ve never had anything to do with that Tesla asshole.

Satisfying though it may be to stick it to you with those five little words you will likely never see, on this matter, I really do wish I had been wrong.

How ridiculous does he NOW think I was being back then? I also wonder if he’s still living his best life down there in Dystrumpia, “passing for white” enough that he’s not one of the fired or deported.

It’s almost a decade later. I’m not on Facebook anymore (clearly!) and I don’t know/don’t care where he is now… probably getting a big ‘ol king trump tattooed on his arse. But I do sometimes think of our little Facebook fight and wonder if he ever has a moment when he does too.

He had such a good laugh at that. “Sons and daughters called to war? Are you hearing yourself?” Laughing with tears emoji. Laughing with tears emoji. Laughing with tears emoji.

“You can’t see it, can you? It’s because someone else’s rights are being infringed upon. When it’s YOUR RIGHTS and when your it’s sons are daughters thay are being oppressed or called to war, maybe then you’ll get it.”

I remember my final word in our exchange quite clearly, admittedly because I was kind of impressed with myself for my turn of phrase:

We argued on some of the hallmarks of Trump’s first go-around like the attack on trans, gay, and women’s rights and the lack of support for racial justice - all of which were and ARE STILL a big deal, but seem warmly nostalgic by today’s standards.

The exchange continued on for a bit with him never actually responding to any of my criticisms of his beloved, orange scourge, but always finding a way to deflect back to me being crazy or stupid (gaslighter much?) or how Canada was this backward, infantile US wannabe of a country.

“Envious of what?” Exclamation point, exclamation point, exclamation point.

He would reply, taking some swings at me and talking some shit about Canada. He accused me of having the equivalent to “penis envy” for the US because I “sure seemed to care a lot about the politics of a country I can’t even vote in.”

The posts centred mostly on the anti-trans rhetoric about who can pee where as well as the Reemergence of outspoken racism and misogyny, the likes of which we had not seen in public discourse for quite a long time.
