It's coming through tonight. We sheltered in Steven's friends' basement LAST night for severe weather... looks like we're going back tonight. So much for resting & recuperating.

I feel the same way! We had four more tornadoes yesterday.

Minnesota is technically NOT in Tornado Alley... and I don't remember any other year with this many... and it's still June!

Just spent two hours in a nearby parking garage. There was a tornado warning less than 10 miles from our house, heading towards us. We do have a storm shelter, BUT it's so small it holds about 1/8th of the people who live here, it's no-pets, full of rat poison, and the manager doesn't unlock it.

It's still near the South Dakota border, and they're EXPECTED to diminish as they near us, but - we can add at least one more confirmed twister to our count this year. Spotter confirmed another one near Lac Qui Parle.

Yeah, it was from North Dakota all the way through to Duluth. (East end of MN)

Climate Change - yeah, all in my head. Tell that to my sweating walls!

I just found yesterday's official heat index... It reached 112F.

There was a derecho to our north, and they're getting hit again this evening. Seven month winters don't seem so bad at the moment.

We will catch the BBC version tomorrow or Monday. I'm off to ambush the ice cream aisle & see how full our freezer can get.

Actual temperature was 96F this afternoon. It's nearly 9, and STILL 92 with a feels-like of 101F!

Heat index of 105-110F today and tomorrow. We broke a record today, and are expected to break the record tomorrow.

Steven is at work. He's got an 8-hour shift in the parking lot today. Fortunately there are company rules about extreme weather, so his time outside will be limited.

Ah! It overwrote my initial response!

Yes, it's a Smart Drive - I can remove it for a fully manual chair, or hook it on for power. So she's both.

My therapist and I argued on this part... she asked what I'd do on days when my upper body crapped out, and I said I'd stay home. She insisted that wasn't acceptable.

She won this one... I have a part-time powered chair, for my part-time needs. But she's purrty and oh so comfortable!!!

Sort of. She has a SmartDrive. It's an electric power assist. I can remove it and have a fully manual chair, or hook it on \when my shoulders/elbows/wrists don't work right. Then my chair is powered, controlled by the tiny dial on the frame next to my right knee. (left as you look at the pics)

It's something that's always been an issue. The power of knowing it's in our past - and owning a shelf to KEEP it in our past - is amazing. Being able to invite friends over for a meal, knowing that there's food to share rather than fretting about where it'll come from, has been mind-blowing.

It was SO yummy! We'd never had it before, so went into it with no expectations. To us, it tasted like Easter.

I thought so! It was so much more secure than plopping it on the passenger seat!
