Trump can't fire them without 30 days notice and legal justification - so "Trump tried to fire 18 independent inspectors general" but really, they don't have to vacate their positions until Congress has weighed in.

I honestly don't understand why we put that kind of power in a single man's hands - it should be up to national security agencies who gets protection, not a vengeful, petty man with an axe to grind.

I don't think you actually read the article - their specific argument is that because Native Americans are beholden to their tribe first, they can't be US Citizens, much in the same way that foreign parents, who have children here, are beholden to their countries, not the US.
