Repair backlogs are in the billions. No AC in the schools means June is HOT. MUCH less music in the schools - that has been slashed! TDSB schools had to choose between music library and gym funding. Who puts the efforts into concerts, afterschool sports and extraC’s? Teachers. etfo.ca

Why is the TDSB strapped for funds? Mike Harris “Common Sense Revolution” moved funding from municipalities to the Province. The TDSB has a shortage of $$$ ever since!! With a higher ESL budget, different needs for city kids, + older buildings, the funding formula has screwed the TDSB.

Re: parent fundraising for extra curricula’s which fund Winter carnivals, spring fairs, music in the schools in the TDSB at least. That creates inequities across the school board! Parent in wealthy areas raise MUCH more funds than in poor. Which means more extracurricular community events.

Past experience with kids in schools - join the parent council for info + support the school. Parent fundraising = important extras. Check the school website. Has your school board has been taken over by the ONgov? The TDSB has been recently & seriously strapped for funds - cut by ONgov.
